A community of 108 fabulous vacation villas in Orlando Florida

Silver Creek is one of the very few developments of vacation homes that you can drive past without realising it is there, because, like a bashful jewel, it is hidden away from the noise and smell of the heavy traffic of highway 27. To find it, you have to turn into the entrance to Woodridge and drive down gently winding Woodcrest Way, which runs through a mature residential estate, on through Clear Creek and out into the pastel shaded homes of Silver Creek. Here, this new, small community is out on a limb, surrounded by natural woodland with ponds and small lakes beyond the manicured lawns and sparkling pools and spas of these beautifully appointed homes.

This quiet location means that there is wonderful bird-life to be seen, especially in the spring, and there is a family of Sandhill Cranes that wander around the estate who are quite bold enough to noisily demand breakfast scraps if you have any! There are also turtles in the ponds and even a local alligator. Fishing is available in the many lakes in the area with species such as large mouth Bass, Catfish and Blue Gill in plentiful supply.

The farthest end of Silver Creek is just a mile from the highway. Turn left from Woodridge entrance and drive south a further mile, past the new Wal*Mart, and you come to the junction with the best known road in Orlando, the 192, which leads to Disney World a further eight minutes away at Animal Kingdom. The 192 itself is crowded with more than twenty-five attractions such as Medieval Times, Racin’ Station Go-Kart Track, City of Celebration, Arabian Nights and Wild Bill’s Fort Liberty, together with endless restaurants and shops. A little further on are Universal Studios and Sea World.

Back on the 27, near the Woodridge junction, there is a rapidly growing list of shops and places to eat, such as a Winn Dixie supermarket, a bank, fuel station, a pizza take away, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and Long John Silver. There are golf courses all over: more than twenty within thirty minutes drive! Other exercise and fresh air attractions include Lake Louisa State Park, and Bok Gardens, with its oh-so-relaxing carillon of bells in a pink marble tower. To the north, off H50 is the Tiffany Museum and old town of Winter Garden. Also within easy reach is the General Van Fleet Trail

Still within range of a day trip, 1 to 1 1/2 hrs away are both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Both have wonderful sandy beaches and wildlife parks. Cape Kennedy’s NASA space launch facility can be seen by bus tour, and it also has a Space Museum and Imax film show, making it a fascinating day out. St Petersburg is an attractive Gulf resort with lovely beaches, and bridges galore over ribbons and broad reaches of warm sea. Culture comes in the form of the Salvador Dali museum, among many attractions. To the mainland from its southern tip, traffic from St Pete almost takes off to cross a ten mile stretch of sea, rising to 200ft to allow big ships to pass below!

Silver Creek is within an hour of Sanford airport and less than 30 minutes from Orlando International airport.
